Why do homosexuals make so much of their whole identify revolve around their queerness. I mean, even the name you chose for your profile is all about being queer. Sad.

When Disassociating
by str8?so is spaghetti..until you heat it up insomeone had started a thread about a comment their mother made - "i would rather my children be dead then disfellowshipped" and it reminded me of a comment my father made when i disassociated myself:.
"...don't disassociate yourself - simply don't go to meetings or go out witnessing...it will make it so much easier for you to come back..".
it disturbs me on two levels:.

Sunday's public talk...
by kzjw inwent with the wife this week for the public talk (i simply will not sit through the watchtower study), the subject was about how poorly governments are taking care of thier people in disasters.
the speaker(who had a british accent) started by saying "burma(myanmar) had 2 tsunamis and the government sent flat screen tv's as aid for the refugees..." needless to say this dillweed lost me for the next 30 minutes of his talk about how man can't care for god's people.
i left during the study as always and returned at the end of the meeting, still burning over the glaring lie told by this "brother" which by the way no one even batted an eye in the congregation!

That's awesome. I used to fantasize often about going up to some arrogant, smug, dickhead public speaker after the meeting, including the CO, and correcting and counselling them like you did.

One Reason Why I Worship the God of the Bible
by snowbird inwhile this may be construed as a rebuttal to nvr's thread re: why i post about atheism, that is not my intent.. it is my intent, however, to show how i developed a belief in and love for the god of the bible.. my paternal grandfather, who died before i was born, was a baptist preacher, so you could say i cut my teeth on the bible.
i loved having it read to me, and once i learned how, reading it for myself.
i'm convinced that spirituality runs deep in my blood.. i've always had such a strong sense of right and wrong that injustices make me literally sick.

I definitely believe God exists and I believe quite possibly God will intervene again in human affairs. However, until God does that, I see no rationality in the idea of worshiping, praising, kowtowing, obsequiating myself to Him until He does intervene. How can one truly love a being that has the power to end wickedness and evil but has tolerated it for so long? I have never read any explanation that suffices to justify this - they are all replete with contradictions.
Love is dynamic, living, real, and we can only truly love that which clearly loves us and continues to love us, in the present tense, as the Bible alludes to. Over 2,000 years of complete tolerance of wickedness and suffering and silence by God and Jesus does not meet that standard as far as I'm concerned. Anything else is just an imitation of love, sentimentalism.
WHEN God reaches out to his human children again and reaffirms his love for all of us, THEN I will have good cause and a rational reason to love and worship him.
If Jesus still loved Thomas even though Thomas refused to believe until he had solid proof, then Jesus should give the human family the same benefit now.

The MEK is NOT a real terrorist group. It is a legitimate resistance group to the tyrannical Mullahs in Iran. It was the MEK that first bought to the world's attention that the Mullah's were after nuclear fissile material and were actively building nuclear facilities towards that aim. The MEK is a tragically misunderstood organisation and should never have been placed on this list of terrorist groups. Supporting the MEK is an excellent way for the US to help topple the rotten regime in Tehran that is currently oppressing the Iranian people.
Do more homework on this..you'll be surprised at what you find.

If you could say just one thing to help free a JW...
by Mr Ben ini guess it's seven years or so since i left, and back then i knew exactly what i would say when members of my cong would come and see me about my absence.
strangely, no one, not one, came and talked about my sudden absence.
i had actually planned a small speech that i could use when friends or the elders eventually came to see me.

I'd say a God of love would never eternally destroy 99% or so of earth's population at Armageddon and especially if the great majority of earth's population have no clue about Jehovah or the 'truth' etc, therefore, Jehovah simply cannot eternally destroy them at Armageddon. Most people are clearly not wilfully wicked, rather, they have inherited sinful tendencies through no fault of their own. To believe God would slaughter most human beings on this planet for all eternity at Armageddon means JW's do not "know" who God is, because God is primarily love, and a God of love simply wouldn't do that. So chill out, relax, leave your destiny in God's hands and stop busting your balls trying to earn your salvation through a religous organisation that hardly anyone on this planet knows or cares about.

Absolutely brilliant! It's logical, fair, cogent, at a good speed, and uses their own quotes superbly.

5go's speculation of future change in the WT's future
by 5go inone) theocratic ministry school will shortened till it is finally replaced by the congregation book bible study.. two) field service hours will no longer need to be reported and over time no records on similar things will be reported.. three) the public edition of the watchtower will cease to exist leaving awake as the sole placement.
which will be little more than a tract..

One) Theocratic Ministry School will shortened till it is finally replaced by the congregation
bookbible study.Yes it will definitely be shortened but won't be totally replaced because it is how they train up their public speakers. Both the Theocraptic Misery Stool and Serveus Meeting will be shortened.
Two) Field service hours will no longer need to be reported and over time no records on similar things will be reported.
I also speculated in a thread that they should do this but frankly, it is almost impossible to see. They are control freaks and do indeed live for statistics.
Three) The public edition of the Watchtower will cease to exist leaving Awake as the sole placement. Which will be little more than a tract.
This is very possible indeed! This is most likely on the agenda because of $$$saving reasons. However, rather than become like tract, it would be beefed up to be a bit more like the new public edition Watchtower. In fact, they said the new version monthly Awake would have more bible topics but there is very little noticeable change - its still full of Readers Digest style garbage articles about plants, animals, etc, that have nothing to do with the Bible. They should rip all that out, stick in some more Watchtower style articles, and dump the public edition Watchtower. Either dump the public Watchtower or dump the Awake, it doesn't matter too much, but clearly there is a good case to have just one magazine for the public a month.
